I can’t believe that it’s October already.

I can’t believe that it’s October already. I’ve been on the Medium Partner Program since April so the end of September marked, for me, six months of writerly graft. That’s how long it took for me to earn $100 per month for the first time on Medium but I did it. It’s not much. But it’s more than I’ve earnt from my writing before. I decided to go back and reply to as many people as I could who had commented on my work. At least the ones who weren’t being mean about it. Maybe skipping a few who sounded like they’d been sent back in time from the future to kill me and were just trying to find out where I live. I’m not sure what the statue of limitations is on replying to comments, or the reply by date after which you look like a crazy person, but I wanted to thank you personally for your kind words. They mean the world to me. They really do. This is hands down the favourite comment that I received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope that you keep writing and never give up on your dreams.

Doing and Being

Oh my God! James! You have sooo much going for you! You are a writer already. If you want to branch out, do it! There’s no monster out here. If there is one in your space, telling you that you can’t- tell it to go bother some one else. Get him/her out of your head. I work in a canning factory ( a very good one) and I come home hurting in places I didn’t know I had. I used to write for an hour each night, now I have to forgive myself because sometimes I can only write for ten minutes. I’m sure you keep a journal. Now get one just for writing. Write ten ideas each day. Write what your senses tell you. Pick an idea. Create a new character each week. Get to know them. Write every day. Watch for my next post. I’m having trouble uploading it. You already have what it takes!

I will take up your challenge of writing down my best possible life! It won’t be as neatly written, though. I am not that type. I am still trying to find out what type I am.

Happy Writing!

Sincerely, Kristen Barney
