Chapter 23 – August 2021

Hi! Welcome to Chapter 23.

Become evil. Rule the world. Maybe drink tea first and sit down for a bit.

“Cut word lines. Cut music lines. Smash the control images. Smash the control machine.”

— W. S. Burroughs

I find your lack of faith disturbing. Sorry, wrong meeting.

This month, there’s T.S. Eliot’s Tradition and the Individual Talent, Susan Sontag On Style, and Henry Miller On Writing and Life.

Great, kid. Don’t get cocky.

Would You Like To Read My New Book?

I’ve finished a seven-month stint writing for NewsBreak — America’s most downloaded local news app.

I’m not proud of it; I was hungry.

I’m a Top Contributor, and still write there, but I’m taking a break as they’ve stopped paying writers base pay.

I signed a non-disclosure agreement so I’m not supposed to talk about the specifics of my contract.

Let’s just say that the last seven months have felt like an obstacle course where every month you level up, the rules change, and the course gets harder.

I survived but I’m glad that, for now at least, it’s over and done with.

In the final months I focused on writing US travel content — specifically “What’s So Great About?” pieces about places in New York.

I’ve been to New York and firmly believe that the best way to experience the city is on foot.

Once the dust settled I realised that I’d written enough content to make a short guide to New York.

So that’s what I’m doing.

Would you like to be a beta reader for my new book?

Here’s a link so you can comment on the 1st draft.

I collected my published guides to New York City and want to turn them into a short ebook with minimal effort.

The provisional title is “What’s So Great About New York City?” as that was the theme of the pieces.

Does it work? Can you spot any factual inaccuracies? Would you buy it? Etc.

Please let me know what you think.
